1. Diet
Eat a balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and protein. Also try to avoid or limit sugar and alcohol intake.
2. Sleep
Get a full night’s sleep! We recommend about 8 hours per night. Start your sleep routine 30-60 minutes before bed, and put that phone away! Avoid tv, media devices, strenuous exercise, stressful conversations, news and email prior to bed. Instead, try mediation or deep breathing exercises to help you fall asleep!
3. Reduce Stress
Acupuncture is a great tool to help manage stress. Also, Chinese herbal formulas or deep breathing exercises can help your body get out of the fight or flight stress response state.
If you feel like you are constantly stressed, schedule an appointment with a cognitive behavioral therapist for specific tools to help manage your stress.
4. Stay Hydrated
Drink water! Aim for at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces. Get creative and get a water drinking phone application like “Aqualert” or “Plant Nanny.” Maybe treat yourself to that cool new water bottle you’ve been eyeing. Whatever you need to do to get your body the amount of water it needs.
5. Vitamins
The Linus Pauling Institute recommends at a minimum that adults consume 75-90mg of Vitamin C and 600 IU of Vitamin D for proper immune function. Talk to your provider about specifics on dosages and your individual health needs. Check out more here on Immunity In Brief : https://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/health-disease/immunity-in-brief
